| more about me: |
I was born and raised in England, but spent most of my
adult life in the USA. Started on the West coast, in
Los Angeles, and over the years have been moving
Eastwards, and currently am in New Jersey.
I have loved animals all my life. When I was in Los
Angeles, I was given no choice but to give a home to
someones unwanted cat. And a while later, a tiny
kitten found in the parking lot near death was also
placed in my care. And the rest, as they say, is
history. I have been taking in societies unwanted cats
since then. And why stop at just cats? That is when a
curiously large number of wild animals suddenly
appeared demanding my care and attention. And so now,
any lost, sick, injured, orphaned, or abandoned animal
of any species who finds their way to me, places
themselves in my protective care. Domestic, exotic,
wildlife, to me they are all the same. My life is
dedicated to doing the best I can with the little
resources I have to keep my animal sanctuary going.
All my personal dreams and ambitions in life are put
aside until I have provided the best possible lives
for my creatures. Flying airplanes has been put on
hold, world travel is now just a distant memory, and I
cannot become the excellent vet I know I could be,
simply because I have no time to do so. The
time-money-animals triangle is something I cannot
escape from. Its like that rock-paper-scissors. One
beats the next which beats the next which beats the
first one. With the animals, I have no time to make
the money to provide for the animals. And without the
animals I wouldn't need the time to make the money to
care for nothing. I could be a vet, or I can care for
animals. I cannot do both. Welcome to my nitemare of
decisions, and indecisions.
I support animal welfare organisations and given the
opportunity would love to play an active part in their
campaigns to save animals.

About My Pet(s) |
| |
| Pet(s): |

Katie, Mister T, Mouse, Black, Little Girl, Seven, Willow, Suzi, Kiki, Xander, Anya, Zoe, B2, Smurf, Bruiser, Phoebe, Demon Spawn, ..... to name a few |
| low down on my pet(s): |
What is a pet and what are my animal guests? It is hard
to divide them up into family and friends. Most species
of common wildlife have passed thru here over the
years. Bambi, Raccoon, Groundhog, Opossum, Rabbit,
Snake, Birds, and three different species of mice. Not
yet had a Squirrel, which I find quite strange,
although I have other animals that are very much
Squirrel-like. My Genet, my Ringtail cat, are both
skittish creatures. Along with my Brushtail Possum,
they comprise my 'exotic' category. My current
wildlife inventory is just two Opossums, and a half
dozen mice. It is February right now, and winter is
always a quiet time in the re-hab world. And then
there are my cats. The current tail count is 41 spread
over tree tribes, and a couple of singles. A handful
will migrate between tribes. Their population was
divided and sub-divided as rivalries became apparent.
Officially I am at capacity and am eager to build a
new facility for them all. Of course as history has
proven, the more space I make for them all, the more
bodies arrive to fill available space. I remember the
day I had just 19 cats. The place I built for them
then was just perfect. And then along comes this
homeless neighborhood cat with a litter of kittens in
tow, and her next batch 'in the oven'. Her and her
sizable family added 15 tails in no time at all. |
| my pet(s) would describe me as: |
To some of my animals I am daddy. They seek me out,
they like to spend time with me. To many of the others
I am the thing that brings them food and cleans up
after them. And to a few, I am the big scary monster
to hide from. You can take the cat out of the wild,
but cannot take the wild out of the cat. The more
unsociable ones I don't force attention on them. Makes
giving vaccinations and other medical needs difficult,
nigh on impossible. |

Pet name: |
Buffy |
|
|
| In loving memory: |
Buffy came from an animal shelter. She had an allergic
reaction to fleas which made her lose much of her hair
and become covered in scabs so her previous owners
dumped her at the shelter. I took her in, and she grew
to be a beautiful cat. Buffy was hit and killed by a
car shortly after moving to our new address which I
thought would be move safe than where we were
previous. I was wrong. |

Pet name: |
Pretty Girl |
|
|
| In loving memory: |
Pretty Girl was found in my yard in a horrific
condition. Barely four pounds, just half the weight
she should have been. She had open abcesses over her
abdomen and massive dental decay and subsequently
found to be FELV+. The first vet I took her to wanted
to just kill her. The second vet was willing to work
with me to do the best possible for the cat. Over the
next few weeks, her sores cleaned up, the dental
problems were treated and following a blood
transfusion, her CBC came back into the normal range.
Her weight got back up to 9 pounds, and against all
the odds, she was making an excellent recovery. Then
one day I thought she might enjoy some fresh air and
took her out on the balcony. She panicked, jumped off
the balcony and took off into the woods, never to be
seen again. Her medical condition was such that
without continuing treatment, her time was short. |

Pet name: |
Fluffitt |
|
|
| In loving memory: |
Fluffitt was caught when he was a feral kitten. So wild
as a youngster, he grew up to be an extremely gentle
cat. His long hair would sometimes get so knotted I
would have to shave him. He fell victim to FIP when he
was just six years of age. |
